प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने अपील की थी कि 5 अप्रैल रविवार को रात नौ बजे नौ मिनट के लिए लोग अपने घरों की लाइटें बंद करें और दरवाजे-खिड़की पर खड़े होकर दीया, मोमबत्ती जलाएं या फिर मोबाइल की फ्लैश लाइट-टॉर्च से रोशनी करें. इस शक्ति के जरिए हम ये संदेश देना चाहते हैं कि देशवासी एकजुट हैं. पीएम ने कहा कि एकजुटता के दमपर ही इस महामारी को मात दी जा सकती है.

ग्रिड के संतुलन के लिए पर्याप्त उपाय

हालांकि ऐसी आशंका जताई जा रही थी कि एक ही समय में एक साथ लाइटें बंद होने और 9 मिनट बाद फिर से चालू होने से बिजली ग्रिड में परेशानी आ सकती है. इस मामले पर केंद्रीय ऊर्जा मंत्रालय का कहना है कि ग्रिड के संतुलन के लिए पर्याप्त उपाय किए गए हैं.

साथ ही ऊर्जा मंत्रालय ने स्पष्ट किया है कि स्ट्रीट लाइट बंद नहीं की जाएंगी. घरों के अन्य उपकरण बंद करने की जरूरत नहीं है. एसी, टीवी, फ्रिज इन सब को बंद करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है. केवल लाइट ही बंद करनी है. अस्पतालों और अन्य आवश्यक जगहों पर लाइटें जलती रहेंगी.

जनता कर्फ्यू पर थाली बजाने का किया था आह्वान

इससे पहले प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने जनता कर्फ्यू का आह्वान किया था. पीएम मोदी ने अपील की थी कि 22 मार्च को जनता कर्फ्यू के दिन शाम को पांच बजे कोरोना वायरस के खिलाफ लड़ रहे कोरोना कमांडोज के लिए थाली जरूर बजाएं. उस दौरान भी पूरे देश ने एकजुटता दिखाई थी और कोरोना कमांडोज के लिए ताली-थाली बजाई थी.
